      Hello there guys,

First of all apologies for intruding your forum and writing in English here unfortunately I can not speak your language so I figured I would give it a try in English rather than pasting some gobbledygook from Google translator :)

I am currently implementing an University project and I'd need the most common words in your language. I believed if I asked you this shall be a lot more accurate since for sure you can find those resources a lot easier and more accurate than me.

To demonstrate what I mean I'll paste a Wikipedia link right here. It doesn't mean that you need to give me a Wikipedia link if you think it doesn't work well as a resource or if there is something more accurate.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Most_common_words_in_English

      You are the best!

      Kind regards,
      Mallefitzo

      Hello Mallefitzo.

Well, let me first move your thread in the good part of our Forum. ;)

After a quick Google search I found that page, that is literally "The most common words in the French language" :

      http://netia59a.ac-lille.fr/va.anzin/IMG/pdf/mots_les_plus_frequents.pdf

But from my point of view, you better should take your list, a dictionary, and translate that directly. :]

      François.

      François' link is very insteresting.

I understood that the most common words in the French language are the words which means :

      The
      of (not really that)
      a / an
      be
      and
at / to (not really that)
      have
      not
      I
      his

So I think that's the same for all languages. The most common words in english language are the same in french language (but we have exeption words which doesn"t exist in english language)

For example : In english language for all the item we only use 'it', but in french language some items are Male, and other are Female. So we use 'he' or 'she' for an item. In german language there are 3 gender, Male, Female and Neutral :transpire:

Those things influence the rank of each words, but in general, that's close. only grammatical words have a different ranking, if you are looking on verbs, you can see that both in english and french languages, most common verbs are : be, have, do. (être, avoir, faire)

Be carefull with Chika's words, especially 1st part.... they are common words but they are a sort of insult. However he is right, french people all the time using lots of bad words.

Sory If I made mistakes :)

      Hey Mallefitzo !

The list From the Ministry of Education of the most used word in written french :

      http://eduscol.education.fr/cid47916/liste-des-mots-classee-par-frequence-decroissante.html

But the always seem to use only one word that regroups the two genders + Plural, so if you need an exact list with every single most used word, including how often you use the Masculine and feminine of every word, this list is manybe not the right one.
